Mowing itself is generally done in the cooler part of the day. Beachside rounds around Smithfield and the northern beaches run mid-morning to mid-afternoon to stay clear of the worst of the sandflies at dawn and dusk.
What to have ready
The quicker version of this conversation happens if you already know:
- Your suburb and street.
- Roughly how big the lawn is, and whether there are garden beds involved.
- How long it has been since the last cut. Be honest — an overgrown block is quoted differently, and everyone would rather know up front.
- Whether there is side access for a mower, and how wide the gate is.
- Whether there is a dog, and whether it can be secured on the day.
- Whether you want a one-off visit or a standing fortnightly or weekly round.
How the quote works
Quotes are free and given on the block, not estimated from a map. You get a per-visit price and, where the lawn has got away, a separate price for the catch-up cut. The price guide explains everything that gets assessed and why two lawns of the same size can price differently.

Frequently asked questions
What are your opening hours?
Monday and Tuesday are the long days, 6:00am to 6:00pm. Wednesday through to Sunday the hours are 7:30am to 4:30pm. Calls outside those hours go to a message service and are returned — leaving your suburb and the type of job in the message gets you a more useful call back than a name and number alone.
What should I have ready when I ring?
Your suburb and street, roughly how big the lawn or garden is, how long it has been since it was last cut, whether there is side access for a mower and how wide, whether there is a dog, and whether you want a one-off visit or a standing round. That is usually enough to book a quote visit at a sensible time.
Is the quote really free?
Yes, and there is no obligation attached to it. Someone looks at the block, tells you what a visit would cost and what it includes, and if the lawn has been left a while you get a separate price for the initial catch-up cut so you can see both numbers. You are free to think about it or say no.
How quickly can someone start?
Usually within the week, sometimes sooner. The exception is the fortnight after a big storm or cyclone, when demand across Cairns spikes and existing customers on standing rounds are looked after first. If there is a wait, you will be given a realistic timeframe rather than a vague promise.
